08.21.08 | Samantha I heard you play at An Die Musik this summer and it was absolutely amazing! I was hoping to hear you again at Artscape, but I did not see you there! I am a classically trained pianist and am desperately trying to break away from the sheet and learn about chord progressions and jazz. If you have any progressions I can practice or book you could recommend I would greatly appreciate it!
By the way I am in LOVE with the song Runaway!
Take care,
Samantha

08.08.08 | Terry Hi George,
I am not sure if I can come see you at the museum tomorrow.
FYI, your itinerary had it for tonight at 8 PM, instead of Saturday at 7 PM.
If you have people who want to go, I will paste some info below my <><><>s:
Take care, LUVCUZT
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The Baltimore Museum of Art gig is sold out, but they should open 120 extra tickets for sale at 3 PM Saturday, weather permitting. Their number is 443-573-1701 (or visit the BMA Box Office) The BMA already sold about 120 tickets to guests that can fit in the auditorium in inclement weather and they will open up 120 more seats in the garden, if they decide to make the all-clear decision at 3:00 PM. The BMA will let people order the tickets by phone; their doors open at 6:30 PM, and they allow the audience to bring food and wine, which could be in a plastic bottle, thermos, or whatever, but NO glass is allowed.
08.01.08 | Robert Provine Hi George,

07.27.08 | Linda What are the rates for lessons?
Thanks :D
07.25.08 | Terry Devine Hi George,
Are you and Kerry busy tomorrow. I contacted Brian and Suzanne about their annual big BBQ pool party. Suzanne said to please invite any/all family to the bbq. It's 2:30 Saturday. You don't need to bring anything, but swimsuits, towels, and a keyboard could make your day more fun. If you like I could put your email address, gcolligan@nyc.rr.com, onto the Evite, which would send you a copy and add gcolligan to the list of 'not yet responded.' They may still have space in a van from NYC. Some folks take the train to Tarrytown Station and shuttle, taxi, etc., over to the house in New City, just northwest of the Tappan Zee Bridge by the Palisades Pkwy. The Evite has the info including a google-map to the house. Let me know if you need a lift. I may not be able to check my email easily, so you can give me a buzz on my cellphone, 240-505-3455.
Hasta Manyana, LUVCUZT
07.17.08 | Howard & Marti Mordin Hi, Georgie-
Nobody calls you that but family, huh? We're old friends of Susan and your dad. We were really sorry to hear that he passed away. We were unable to go to the memorial service because we had my cousin's memorial service on the same day and I (Marti) was in charge of it. We've lost touch with Susan and haven't been able to find her phone #. We're hoping you have it. She was very hurt that we weren't there for her at the time and we'd like to mend some fences.
You did meet us at the wedding, which feels like a thousand years ago. We live in VA now and really would like to see Susan. I hope she feels the same way. It's OK to call her to verify who we are. I would expect the same from one of my kids/surrogate kids.
I'm enjoying listening to your music as I write this-good web site!
Thanks for your help.

04.01.08 | Jürgen Wolf IAJO Hi George,
have you got the details for your tour Australia and Europe?
I'd like to set up the calendar on my web site.
01.25.08 | Lorne Graham George,
Just wanted to say hello. It sounds like great stuff is happening for you, some terrific gigs coming up. March seems so far away and yet will sneak up rapidly, but we may check and see if we can swing (no pun intended) one of the Iridium gigs to see you.
Anyway, I was wondering if you are still in touch with Alex. About ten days ago, I received an enigmatic e-mail from his address claiming financial hardship in Africa (known for internet financial scams), requesting $2500 be wired to a Nigerian hotel (I believe). It was right before I went out to CA for the NAMM Show, but felt his e-mail had probably been compromised. Have you heard from him lately, or know if he is languishing in an African prison? Take care. Lorne
01.22.08 | Nilson Matta Hey George,
I hope we can play together one day (soon) bro!!
Big brazilian jazz hug for you!

PS Great website.
01.21.08 | Herb Young Hello George,,
We have never met but I wanted you to know that I have received a copy of a compact disc from Fresh Sounds to review. The titled is "The Music of Mercedes Rossy". This compact disc has really gotten to me. It is one of the most honeste and heart rendering 70 plus minutes of music that I hsave had the provilage to hear in my nearly 70 years of listending to jazz. Then your comments in the booklet regarding Mercedes Rossy have - well lets put it this way, I never met you, I never met Ms. Rossy but yet I read this and tears comes to my eyes. Thank you so much for what you, what Mark Turner, Christ Cheek, Mario and Jordi Rossy out down in music. I cannot find the words to expres my gratitude.
Sincerley,
Herb Young
12.26.07 | Dre Barnes How are you doing George, this is Dre Barnes, We met at your gig at the Kitano. I am a pianist as well. 12.13.07 | Marcia Dodge Dear George Colligan-
I am a Director-Choreographer, MARCIA MILGROM DODGE.
I have directed AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' the Fats Waller Musical many times over the years and am about do another one in Sag Harbor, NY in July-August 2008.
I am having trouble finding a Music Director!
I need someone who resembles Fats Waller and can play stride like he did!
And if he can sing a bit--even better.
My regular guys are all booked with other projects.
I fear that we are in going to lose this art form.
Do you know any Jazz players who fit this bill?
Please send me names and contacts--or point me to them.
With respect and admiration,

12.13.07 | jim ridl george,
howdy! wondering if you would be interested in subing for me on wed., jan. 23 at the iridium. it's a cd release of composer paul nash's jazz cycles. it would pay $300 plus $50 per rehearsal of which there may be two. so it's either $350 or 400. the music is very good. it's just under an hour long - through composed. you'd be playing the same music for both sets. it's alot of reading and also includes some blowing. the other players are vic juris, tim ries, shane endsley, bruce williamson, jeff carnery and griesha alexiev.
i'd be glad to get together with you to look over the music.
let me know as soon as you can. my #'s are;

thanks and all the best, jim.
12.07.07 | Will Martin Hey George - I hope all is well. You're getting (got?) married, right? I was listening to a favorite piano CD the other day and thought of you - I wonder if you know/like this record. Mehldau, "Places". It's one of the favorite CD's in my house. Another is Danilo Perez "Panamonk". You should check these out if you don't know them.
No other real reason for writing. We're good. Two tiny girls now, 2 years, 5 months. They're wonderful, but two is about right so we'll stop there. Playing a bit and writing for a Latin Jazz (-ish) CD out here, which is fun.
Later.

12.04.07 | Ed Dunphy Hi George,
I will be meeting the Mayor of Keansburg and a prominent business person about my Jazz.Blues Festival on Friday this week, which I am planning for May, 2008. I have already talked to the business community and they want it and are very excited. I am told the Mayor also wants it. I have talked to the sponsor and it looks real good. Everything is going in th right direction. We also will be talking to The Atlantic Highlands next week about another Jazz/Blues festival. Our company goal is to have six in 2008. A lofty goal but very doable. I have already talked to some people like Mark Gross (he says Hello to you). Iam putting the show together as we speak. I just need to know what your rate is don't be shy I want all you guys to make a few bucks. As long as I can fit it into my budget. Also I hope you will bring a trio or quartet. As long as I can fit it into my budget.
Today we got a blessing from The Mayor and council from Manasquan, however this one is a doo wop festival. Have no fear the Jazz events are near.
I spoke with Betty yesterday, I think we can work together.
This is cool I am listening to you while I write.
Merry Christmas.
Ed Dunphy

11.13.07 | Diane Yoon Mr. Colligan,
I just wanted to let you know that you’ve inspired me -greatly- with your incredible talent. I mean, even now, I’m extremely thrilled to be at your page haha. Well… I’ve been playing piano for about five years and I’ve always wanted to learn jazz seriously. To me… jazz has become a significant portion of my life, so I am very determined to take hold of any opportunity related to jazz…
So… I was wondering if you’d be willing to give me lessons. After listening and watching your performance at Blue Note with Christian McBride, I really couldn’t help but to ask you. I’m only 16 years old so, I am capable of making time anywhere in my schedule besides the school hours. I would really really appreciate hearing back from you. Thank you so much and have a good one. =)
-Diane.

Just dropping a quick line to say hi and that I'm looking forward to hearing you play in Baltimore this Friday...I bought tickets for both shows. You've been kind enough to let me pick your brain in the past, and your playing has been a big influence on me. Anyway, looking forward to it, and I'll definitely try to say hi in between sets or something.

Its Linda Finerson's granddaughter. I want to come see your show at the New Leaf on the 25th. Is there anyway I can easily get there by subway? I am just trying to figure out times, scheduling, and travel. I really want to come though. If you know or could get somebody to get me new yorker directions, I would appriciate it. Thanks.

10.15.07 | Paul Kirby Hi George - how are you doing?
My name is Paul Kirby a jazz pianist from Edinburgh and we met briefly in August last summer during the jazz Festival there and hung out with Adam Sorenson and other guys.....
Anyways, I hope you are well and thriving. I'm in NY until Saturday and wondered if you'd be into the idea of a lesson some daytime before then. I will try to check my email frequently or you can call the cell number i have at the moment.... 347-484-9133
Any gigs in the ciy this week?
All the best and catch you soon

10.11.07 | Tim Garland Hey George, remember me?
I've just picked up on a forum stream from 2005 (a little late I know!)
Just doing some research on Stuart Nicolsons book. I doubt if any one but those of us on the ground playing day by day have a position to make big generalisations (probably not us either!) but I really liked what you wrote and the FACT that you wrote, so, hears to you, albeit two years late! The media is one thing and well, the music, quite another I guess, with no nice straight defining lines! Very best wishes to you!

10.10.07 | kathryn One more question, Mr. Colligan: I live in the bay area and attend shows at Yoshi's frequently(if you call twice a month frequently) and think you would fit in there quite nicely. Will you play there some day? Well you should!! I played the piano for 14 years, 6 competetively, and have since picked up the guitar(more portable) but miss it terribly, and thoroughly respect your talent. Anywho, thanks again!
10.10.07 | Kathryn I heard your Euphoria on Jazz 91 tonight at 12:23am, played by my favorite 91 dj, wolf, and i think it is the epidome of classic jazz...the swishy drums, the delicate piano riffs...i listened to this song of your trio's and think that this is exactly what i define as jazz. i tried to buy your album "live/b alley" on amazon but it's unavailable?? i will do more research in the light of day, but let me just say...wow!!! thanks for putting it out there. love kathryn
10.04.07 | eugene Hi George,
You can mention Yaroslavl, Belgorod and Kursk where you will stay in hotels. All the places will provide full size keyboards with MIDI. If you need to know the exact model I can ask them. I also need your passport number.
Eugene
10.02.07 | Herb Young I am the review editor for the IAJRC (International Association of Jazz Record Collectors) and received a CD to review on which you appear. I saw that Fresh Sounds had issued some of your recordings and I wrote to them about obtaining review copies. Yesterday, I received 5 CD's. Right now I am playing "The Music of Mercedes Rossy" and just want to tell you how much I appreciate this recording and intend to review in a form coming issue of our IAJRC Journal. I can hardly wait to get to hear the others. You are a remarkable talent.
Sincerely,

Hello
Radiophone.gr is a greek internet radio station.

10.01.07 | Jerry Gorby George:
Glad you liked the Pramberger grand this past Friday at Scarlet Oaks - the Charleston (WV) Jazz Series. The quartet was as good as it gets. What fun. I only wish we had had more time to talk. There is so much going on in the piano industry that it's almost a full time job just trying to keep up with the many changes that seem to happen every day. For example, more acoustic pianos are now being shipped to the U. S. from Indonesia than
Japan. Who would have thought this 20 years ago.
If you can recall what you liked about the Pramberger pianos and feel like sharing that information as something we can post on our web site I would appreciate your comments. We've had very positive results on these in the 10 years they have been on the market.
I didn't realize it but we had one CD of yours as a sideman with Ingrid Jensen here at the store. Saturday I ordered six more with you as leader.
Being President of this place gives me the liberty of being able to play jazz all day if I so desire. So, my staff will become very immersed in your playing within the week.
Thanks,
Jerry Gorby

09.29.07 | eugene Hey George, you know, it's not your fault neither mine. It's just the way
russian jazz market is functioning. But we're still OK with all that.

09.19.07 | Jack Wright Mr. Colligan,
Wow. Your piano playing is amazing. I was wondering how you started out playing piano and what advice you would have for me on my musical journey: I took about 5 years of classical piano and know my scales, key signatures, basic chord structures, etc. I'm wondering how I can take that 'classical knowledge' and translate it into a jazz context. Are their any books that might help? Thanks so much for your time!
09.13.07 | eugene Hey George, get a ticket for 28th and back for the 5th. Are you going to Scotland from Moscow then? Can we save something?
Eugene
09.13.07 | Maurice Hogue CKUW Winnipeg Hi, George

I'd love to get a play copy of Blood Pressure for the show. I
love your music and playing and would certainly be glad to spin
some tracks from the new cd.

untill your afternoon.
Eugene
09.10.07 | Bill Benjamin Hey George,
It was great hearing you and talking with you week before last at Cachaca during your gig with Boris Kozlov and Ernesto Simpson. You're a monster player, and the entire trio was absolutely killing. I have several of your recordings, but hearing you live again is a real treat.
Hope you get a chance to play in the Chicago area again. I'll spread the word among the local jazz community. The Green Mill would be a great venue for you guys. I wouldn't consider myself a friend of owner Dave Jemilo, but I am at his club often and he ususally listens to me when I hip him to someone new.
All the best...

09.07.07 | Elizabeth Shaler I was thinking of you and Kerry recently. Yesterday I was thinking, "I hope George finds a teaching job! He's such a good teacher. If he lived closer to me [in Brooklyn], I would take lessons all the time. I should give him a call to schedule some lessons."
So imagine my surprise and happiness to see that you are teaching at Juilliard. Congratulations! That is so great. I'm very pleased for you!!!
I also was remembering your gig at the Jazz Gallery from a few years ago, and in its own way, your rendition of "I can't make you love me" played an important part in my post-divorce life reconstruction. I mean, I cried like a baby after I got home from that gig, but it was a good thing. I'd never really "heard" that song before.
I am free M, W, F, and alternating Sundays. I would like to start taking some lessons with you again, and hopefully in a more consistent fashion than I have in the past. Let me know when you're available. You can use the e-mail given or my cel 718 219 1462.
Big hugs to you and Kerry!

09.06.07 | Patty Bradshaw I recieved an email from your address from someone named Colby Sheppard. Do you know this person?
09.05.07 | eugene Hey George,

sure on September 10. If you're leaving on the 28th you are here on the 29th

08.28.07 | Fred Warner hi George,

08.08.07 | eugene Hi George,
Yes, It's cool. So if we do organ thing we need a guitarist, right?
Eugene
08.07.07 | eugene Hey George, Anton is good, but I just wanted to change the vibe as far as we
probably will do at least two places we've done before. But if it's
significant hassle just forget it. And I think it won't be a problem to get
a proper keyboard. Regarding the dates if you are available from 29th -
that's what we will try to start from. And I hope a whole tour is going to
be a week or a little more long.
Eugene
08.07.07 | eugene Hi George,
Yes, we will definetely do it. I'm working on gigs in Belgorod, Tomsk,

08.04.07 | AllAboutJazz Italia Dear Mr. George Colligan
My name is Vincenzo Roggero and I am the curator of a column entitled "The 10 CDs I am currently listening to" on All About Jazz Italia ( http://italia.allaboutjazz.com ), the main Italian jazz magazine online.
I am writing to you to ask whether you'd be interested in contributing to the column.
The idea is to write a short thing indicating the 10 CDs you are CURRENTLY listening to (according to this format 'Musician - Tittle (Label - Year)'.
For each CD - ideally - there should be a short description (it could be: what do you think of it, how you discovered it etc. - It's totally up to you and can be just a line or two...).
When you provide the list of CDs you're listening to, it would be preferable if you included only records that do not feature you as a leader or sideman. The purpose of this column is to make our readers know more about your music tastes and interests.
I understand you have a very busy schedule so I would be most grateful if you could let me know whether you would be interested in contributing or not.
Should you agree, it would be ideal if you could also send us a recent picture of yourself (or point us to a website where we can download it).
Thank you very much for your kind attention and best regards
V. Roggero

Deadline three/four weeks.

07.31.07 | eugene Dear George,
Did you get my message to your regular box? Here it is:
Ok. It's still possible. Thanks for letting me know.

07.31.07 | eugene ryaboy george, for some reasons I can not send e-mails to your regular mail box. my provider doesn't accept addresses with "rr". Do you have any other mail boxes?
Dear George,
What if we start on October 25 and you go back on November 2? Are we going to do your organ stuff? We need a guitar player then, right?
Eugene.
07.06.07 | Marlon T Hello George,
i read your biography, well , iam sorta in the same shoes you`ve been years ago, i want to become a good pianist but iam not a chinese 6year old. Iam 21, i started with lessons 6 months ago, my teacher has no idea what i want to accomplish, since i choose piano as my minor and drums major. Now, i feel sorta unsatisfied because i feel more comftable at the 88-key - beast - monster thing. Well i will talk to my teacher soon about that. The thing that interests me is how did you feel when you moved fully to piano? I mean, to be sorta against the grain type a feeling. Here in europe we have big piano dogma you know? I have a really strong musical-vison and i want to do everything to make it happen you know? Damn, in english i use so much to word " I " that it feels weird, whaterever, thanks for reading.
Your dear listener
Marlon "not brando" Tarnow
07.05.07 | Andy Watt Hi George
My name is Andy Watt and i present a jazz show based in Glasgow on www.radiomagnetic.com.
I see that we will be having the pleasure of hearing you at this years Edinburgh Jazz Festival in various settings and i was hoping that i could mayby take a short time out of your busy schedule to record a interview.
I saw you perform at Cork a few years back with Mad Science and you have allways been a favourite on my show.
It would be great if i could take you out for lunch or a few drinks or even just grab 10mins before or after a gig..the choice is yours.
I look forward to hearing from you
Cheers

06.27.07 | John Geggie hi George,
thanks for the wonderful music last night at the jam session in Ottawa...you sounded great and it was indeed inspiring...and thank you for your kind comments about comparing me to Drew. I know Drew and have a lot of his recordings..a lovely bass player.
I would love to keep in touch with you about getting you back up here to do a concert with me and perhaps NIck the drummer (from the sessions.)
take care and drop me a line when you have a chance
John
06.26.07 | Will Martin Hey George - I think I heard you on XM the other day. Wanted to catch you when you were in Seattle again in April for Ballard Jazz Fest, I think, but had just got back from out of town. Flight landed at 5am that day and I was wasted, pretty much out of commission. Too bad for me. Next time.
Still hoping to do some fusion stuff of some sort. Maybe not too edgy so I can actually get gigs with it here in Seattle. But it's taking a while to scrape together some tunes and find players. it's not a genre I'm connected with out here yet.
Hope all is well. You married yet?
Will

03.29.07 | Willy McDonald George,
Willy here. Bass player from times past. Heard Alex last Friday in Columbia w/Glenelg Jazz Band. You know the drill- was great. I could not recognize his playing, time flies and music grows.
I told him I would e-mail him (track him down in Miami), but my searches failed. Who knew.
Send my best to Jeremy, give Alex my contact info if you can.
If it is a robot that reads this, pox on you groove.

03.18.07 | Clemens M Peters Hi George, I really like your composition about "no hay olvido" de Pablo Neruda. Would it be possible to get a leadsheet of it? I accompany an actor recitating lyrics and texts of Pablo Neruda. I would like to make a guitararrangment for me. Maybe I can perform this song within the framework of this programm. I really would like to do it. I am an "aficionado" de Pablo Neruda.
many thanks in advance

03.13.07 | Robert Guttman George,
It was nice to meet you in Portland at the Jazzfest and share a walk around downtown Portland last month. Hope things are going well for you - I see you're overseas this week.
I was wondering if you were able to learn whether the gig at Univ of Washington is going to happen. If you're thinking seriously of living up there I can put you in touch with some friends of mine in the Seattle area who are part of the local scene there, including Hadley Caliman (tenor) and Nick Hoffman a guitar player in Bellingham who plays a lot of B-3 gigs around the area.
If you are coming to Chicago, any time in the future, by all means drop me a note - my wife and I would love to host you for dinner. Use my email address to get in touch with me.
Good luck and we'll be looking forward to following your continuing succeses. Ciao.

I liked your fusion album so much I made two copies for my bandmates.
If possible could I pay though Paypal? If not tell where to send a check.

Sincerely,

01.27.07 | Thomas Beddoe hey george,
so im a keyboardist in a band, and im a self-taught novice pianist with a firm grasp on music theory. i am looking for a keyboard teacher who can truly teach me playing techniques and not so much classical studies, because to be honest, i dont want that and i dont believe i need it. i play a nord electro 2 61-key model as well as fender rhodes and the obvious acoustic upright. tell me what you think, and if you cannot help me, please point me in any direction that you think a young keyboardist with little classical training but a willingness to perform and play would go.
all the best,
thomas beddoe
01.26.07 | Andy Schwartz for Jazz Standard Dear George,
I'm working on the Jazz Standard press release for March.
Is 'Realization' the title of your most recent CD?
Was it released on the Sirocco label -- or is that a different album title?
What's the title of your forthcoming CD on the Ultimatum label?
Finally, is "Mad Science" the name of your organ trio or an album title, or both?
Thanks for your co-operation.
Best regards,
Andy Schwartz for Jazz Standard

01.19.07 | Abel Jorge Dear Sir,
My name is Abel Jorge, I produced and broadcast a Blues radio program since 1999 called “Vivir en Blues” (“Live in Blues”). We are broadcasting in the south of Gran Buenos Aires, Argentine; Radio G 97.7 Mhz, Bernal more specifically with a considerable reach in the area and bordering.
Since I have begun in this passion of diffusing Blues for radio, I never had neither advertisers nor sponsors, or money contributed to the program that not outside of my own pocket. It is not really an easy task.
I had luckily contacted worldwide bands, labels, publications and other kind of media that produced and broadcast Blues, and they are a big part of my support, sending Cds, such as biographies, books, magazines and all kind of information related.
If it is possible for you to send me some material from what you have been done, to broadcast in my program, I will received it and broadcast it, as well as some material related.
From already thank you,
Abel Jorge

01.12.07 | Mark Grass Hello George, My name is Mark. I live just outside of Boston , MA, and recently opened a music cd store featuring Instrumental music.
I have a mission in this life, and that mission is to promote your type of music to ears that may have never heard it before.
Being a musician myself, I know how hard it is to get your music heard by the masses. I was wondering if you have any promo cd's of Realization, that I could play in my store ?? I also have a very good drummer friend , who has his own radio show on WICN in Boston, and he would be glad to play your cd on his show as well.
I am carrying a few cds from Mr. Rodney Holmes, and ironically, I am going to see Rodney with Jim Weider and his Perculator Project in Feb.
I've seen Rodney with Steve Kimock also in Boston.
Do you have any plans of touring for the new album(s) ??
There are a few clubs in Boston that you would fit right into:
Scullers Jazz Club and Ryles are two that I can think of.
Any Promo cd's would be appreciated, and I will be glad to pay your shipping costs if necessary.
I hope you are having a great New Year and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks again, and wish me luck on my mission......Peace. Mark

I was just looking at Yoshi's calendar and saw you and Don Byron will be there in February. Wendy and I would love to come see you (Junior Walker, huh?), or at least maybe we can meet up while you're in Oakland. Would that be possible?
Hope all is well.

01.03.07 | Ingrid Jensen Hey George!
Happy New Year ! Hope all is great with you!! Cool site by the way.
Question- I am leading the sisters in Jazz this year and thought it would be a good idea to do one of Mercedes tunes with the group. Tenor and alto ,PBD, with the possibility of me on a sextet thing if they want...Do you have any leadsheets (I have 91 and the Newcomer) that are easy to PDF/Email me and that you think would be good for the IAJE fest crowd? I may contact Kerry too as I know she has some great tunes. Could use her email when you get a minute too. Thanks and all the best for 07!

10.30.06 | Will Martin Hey, George - I'll see you this weekend at Tula's, either FR or SA. Not sure if Chris will be able to make it or not, but probably.
I'm not sure what these trips are like for you, but if you're at loose ends, I'd love to buy you lunch or dinner before one of your shows and catch up. I promise not to make you late for the gig this time - there are a bunch of good restaurants within walking distance of Tula's. And if you really have time I could swing you by the house and you could meet our 1-year-old daughter Hannah. She's a hoot. At the same time, I realize that maybe it'll be all hectic for you, which is what I would guess, and in that case I'll see you at the gig.
If you need anything while you're in town, you can reach me on my cell at 206.818.6795.

10.19.06 | Dean Marcellana Hi George,
I would be interested in taking some lessons with you. What does your teachiing schedule look like and what do you charge? I am a classically trained pianist but have been doing more jazz, latin jazz, funk-groove and indie rock music idioms. Presently, I lead my own Latin Jazz group and also play/tour with a group out of Boston, (Cordis: Cordismusic.com). At any rate, I love a lot of the stuff you're doing and would be interested in trying to pick up some ideas/concepts to help me devolop my own playing and sound.
Peace,

10.16.06 | Roger Friedman You are awesome! Man I love your playing. I can't believe you were here in Cleveland this past July and I missed you. Damn. Oh well. Hey, I've been playing with a couple of your old buddies - Greg Bandy and Eddie Henderson. We did a thing out at the Bach Society in Half Moon Bay. I'm hoping we do that again soon, we had a blast. I've known Greg for a number of years (we had a trio here in Cleveland) but that was my first time with "the Doctor". What a treat. Man,I need to learn some shit from you! Hey are you playing a Nord Clavia? I'm thinking of getting one but not sure if I'll like the action - I haven't found one to demo here. I know it has killin' Rhodes and B3 sounds and that's what I'd like (plus the lightweight!) Anyway - have a great European tour and let me know if your ever back around Cleveland! I may even have to order one of your CD's. I'm still working on putting out my own CD but I am on one with the Dave Sterner Quintet (you can check it out at CD Baby). I love the tunes on your website and your YouTube stuff is cool too!

10.13.06 | Mark Reboul Hi, George --
Good running into you on the street this afternoon. I'm glad things are going reasonably well for you. I always enjoy your playing.

08.11.06 | Ralph Alterbaum George,
I got caught in the nasty rain storm last night and was drenched on the way to the subway. My goal was to get down to 55bar to see you and Jonathan for the second time in one week. It never happened.
The good news is your latest CD. This is so terrific George. The music could very well bring peace in the middle east.
Don't worry about a thing on this trip. Israeli security is virtually bulletproof at the spanking new Ben Gurion airport, and Eilat is also very safe. Relax.
Enjoy your day, plus add me to the mail list.

08.06.06 | Manami Kurokawa Hello George,
My name is Manami but everybody calls me Mami. I was really touched in your live performance in Tokyo. Before that shows I'd considered your music had been too smart and skillful for me. I was wrong. You're not only a great technician but also a wonderful entertainer. I became a big fan of you after that.
I've tried to get your latest album "Blood Pressure" but I can't. When you gave us an advice about that we couldn't get them at Tower records or somewhere like that, I didn't believe you. Then I wondered I would be able to find it out on the Amazon.
Would you please teach me how can I get it?
Hope you will come to Tokyo again soon!! Ciao!
Mami

08.01.06 | Kojiro Ono Hello George.
Great Shows in Tokyo!
I caught your Body&Soul show and one of the PitInn shows.
To tell you the truth, I am a big Mark Turner fan and it was the main reason I saw your shows. But I learned how great pianist, composer, arranger you are and I decided to pay attention on your music from now on. I was especially moved by your arrangement of Akatombo. Im sure it touched everyone elses hearts too.
Thank you so much for coming all the way to Japan to perform great music. We all appreciate your visit and cannot wait for your next visit.
Thanks!
Kojiro Ono

07.01.06 | Erin Humphrey Dear George,
I am the lead singer in RUE, a Boulder, CO based gypsy jazz group. We are in the process of planning a tour to Japan and I ran across your name on the zoojazz.com website. I was wondering if you have any advice for putting a tokyo jazz club tour together/how you got in contact with the promoters/club owners and the details of the planning process. I lived in Japan for two years and speak Japanese very well for a non-native, but have never touched upon the whole jazz/touring scene there. Any advice or time you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much.
In peace,
Erin Humphrey
